A Different Path to Dentistry
I didn't start out in a dental school. I started in a research lab. I completed my Master's and PhD in exercise physiology at the University of Michigan, where I spent years studying the human body and how it works. The science was fascinating, but something was missing. I wanted to be closer to the people I was trying to help.
Dentistry gave me that. It took everything I valued about research, the precision, the problem-solving, the commitment to evidence, and put it directly in service of patients. The moment I could provide real relief to someone in pain or hand them a mirror and watch their face change when they saw their new smile, I knew I'd found where I was supposed to be.
What I Love About This Work
Two things, honestly. The first is the relief. When someone comes in with dental pain, they're often at their limit. Being able to help them feel better quickly, sometimes within a single visit, is one of the most direct and meaningful things I get to do as a clinician.
The second is the artistry side of restorative and cosmetic care. There's a lot of craft involved in rebuilding a tooth or redesigning a smile, and I find that deeply satisfying. But what really gets me is what happens after. Patients who used to cover their mouth when they laughed, or avoided photos, or just felt embarrassed to smile, come back different. That shift in confidence is something I never take for granted.

Professional Involvement
I'm a Pre-Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry and a member of the American Dental Association. My research background gave me a deep appreciation for staying current, so continuing education isn't something I check off a list. It's something I'm genuinely invested in. Dentistry keeps advancing, and I want my patients to have access to the best of what's out there.
Giving Back to the Community
Access to good dental care isn't something everyone has, and that matters to me. I try to do my part by making our practice a place where patients feel comfortable asking questions, where they're educated about their oral health, and where they leave with more than just a cleaned set of teeth. Building healthy habits in the community starts with patients who actually understand why it matters.
What I Can Help You With
My background covers a wide range of dental care, including more advanced procedures that not every general dentist offers.
My areas of focus include:
- Comprehensive and preventive care to keep your oral health on track.
- Restorative dentistry to repair or replace damaged and missing teeth.
- Surgical procedures, including tooth extractions and dental implants.
About Nest Dental
Dr. Jeong and I built Nest Dental around a pretty simple idea: patients deserve better than what most corporate dental offices offer. Better time, better attention, and care that actually feels personal.
We're both involved in every part of what happens here, from treatment planning to the experience you have when you walk through the door. We've equipped the practice with modern technology because precision matters, but we've also worked hard to create an environment that feels calm and human. We know dental visits aren't most people's favorite thing, and we take that seriously.
Nest Dental is built on the belief that great dentistry requires trust, expertise, and a practice that genuinely puts patients first. That's not just something we say. It's the reason we started this place.
